More than 600 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are on the Lean Enterprise Development (“LED”) Scheme to become leaner and more productive since the pilot project started in October 2015, and the Manpower Ministry wants the number doubled before the year ends.

The LED Scheme helps progressive SMEs transform and grow in the new manpower-lean landscape. MOM’s objective is:

to support SMEs that want to be pioneers and early adopters of change: becoming more productive, more innovative, and more manpower-lean. This will help create stronger business growth, and offer better jobs and careers to Singaporeans.

Features of the LED Scheme include:

  • Alignment of efforts towards becoming more manpower-lean, with emphasis on a stronger Singaporean core and better quality workers
  • Transitional manpower support for early success
  • Closer coordination and wider outreach to SMEs
